The Emergency Food Security Assessment (EFSA) Awareness is the first WFP training course on this topic accessible on-line or via CD-ROM.

The learning objectives are:

  1. To describe concepts of food security and livelihoods
  2. To identify key assessment methods and give a basic description; of their application
  3. To use the EFSA Handbook, participate as a team member, under supervision, in an initial assessment

  • Course Options: It takes approximately 10 to 16 hours to complete the full course. Two versions of the course are available to learners. The course content is identical. The time allocated to complete the full course has been tailored to meet the needs of new learners and experienced assessors. Alternatively, it is possible to only complete one part of the course. This page details the different course combinations available.
     
  • Learners need to score 70% or more on all lessons to receive a certification of completion. The learner results are tracked in a central database in the Food Security Analysis Service in WFP Headquarters.
