Home > Learning Needs & Monitoring > Learning Needs Analysis

The first step of any capacity building project is to identify the most suitable learning approach.
It can be a workshop (face-to-face training event), an e-learning course or on-the-job learning (learning by doing “on the job”).

What is it?

Definition: Training needs analysis has four components: (i) country context, (ii) methods review, (iii) stakeholder analysis, and (iv) skills gap analysis.
Facilitators collect information from country office consultations, learners’ questionnaires, the documentation of assessment methods and country programme activities.
