WFP and partner staff members have different skills and different training needs depending on their role in an assessment. For this reason, WFP has developed different types and levels of food security assessment training workshops.
Course content and trainer’s resource materials, such as presentation slides, facilitators’ notes, exercises and readings are accessible on this page. More resources developed at field level will be available in 2008.
Foundation Course: Foundations courses were organised from 2005 at the regional and country levels. Since 2007, trainings have been tailored to specific staff skills sets, the country context and new methodological approaches. This category includes UNHCR/WFP joint assessment and FAO/WFP CFSAM trainings.
Technical Trainings: Specialized training focused on increasing assessment capacities in complex topics such as quantitative data analysis, response options analysis and market analysis.
Technical Meetings: Attended by specific groups of assessors, these learning events focus on challenging topics such as linking food security and nutrition, measuring food access and market analysis.
